40,000 Expected At Cranberryfest Friday and Saturday

Eagle River Chamber and Visitors Bureau

One of the largest events all year in the Northwoods happens this weekend in Eagle River.

Cranberryfest is Saturday and Sunday at the Vilas County Fairgrounds in Eagle River.

Natalie Spiess is Events Coordinator at the Eagle River Chamber and Visitors Center. She says attendance could approach 40 thousand. The event started in 1980. Spiess says they celebrate Wisconsin's number one fruit.

She says besides all things cranberry, it is also more than 300 arts and crafts vendors...

"...we have fresh cranberries and craisins for sale. We have cranberry marsh tours that go to Lake Nokomis cranberries, We have an arts and crafts fair at the fairgrounds. We have a huge bake sale in our bakery tent, we have live music at the fairgrounds. There's a pancake breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. We have a beer and wine garden featuring adult beverages..."

..and the list goes on. Among the events is the Berry Bog Jog at Riverview Park on Saturday morning. There's an open air antique market on Wall Street, with a book sale at the library.

At the First Congregational Church there's a show and sale from the Lake Country Weavers and fiber artists.
