Appeals Court Turns Back Republican Election Request

U.S. District Judge William Conley Thursday gave voters more time to file absentee ballots from election day next Tuesday to April 13.

Friday, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals did not grant a stay asked by Republican leadership, refusing to block extended absentee voting deadlines. Republicans asked for a stay of Wisconsin's presidential primary while they sought an appeal.

Several states have postponed their spring elections as the COVID-19 virus moves across the country.
