Applicants Needed To Help Advise National Forest Policy

Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest

The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest is looking for persons with certain interests to sit on an advisory board that will help shape future forest policy.

Forest spokesperson Casey Jardine says they're looking for 15 applicants with diverse backgrounds to sit on this board...

"...They would represent a variety of communities, such as environmental organizations, recreational or off-highway vehicle users. Mineral or energy development interests. A large variety of the representation of the community surrounding the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest...."

Members would serve for four years. Resource Advisory Committees are established as a provision of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act. Jardine says Resource Advisory Committees are responsible for reviewing and recommending projects for implementation...

"It could be watershed restoration, ecosystem health, road or trail infrastructure maintenance..."

15 people are needed within different categories. If you are interested in serving as a member of the Forest’s advisory committee and have questions you're asked to contact Penny McLaughlin at 715-362-1322 or the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest website.
