Boy Scouts of America teaches scouts everything from outdoor skills to leadership skills.

There are different programs available for boys and girls in kindergarten all the way through age 20.

Samoset Council District Director Amanda Flannery said joining a pack or troop is a great program, especially right now.

“Most of our activities they’re outside and we do outdoor activities throughout the entire year, through the winter. We have winter camp right there in Rhinelander that the kids get to participate in. It’s very safe activities to do during COVID,” said Flannery.

Flannery said they do a lot of social distancing and virtual programming.

There is a community sign up night Thursday, September 17 from 6:30 to 7:30 at Pioneer Park in Rhinelander.

People can stop by, learn more about the programs and sign up.

There is financial assistance available.

“There are scholarships or financial aid for anyone that needs financial assistance,” said Flannery. “We don’t want to feel they cannot participate because of financial needs so we have scholarships available for anyone that needs those.”

If you can’t make it to the sign-up event Thursday night, you can sign up online.
