Counterfeit Money Found In Northwoods

Oneida County Sheriff Facebook

You might want to take a closer look at your money, as some counterfeit currency has turned up in northern Wisconsin.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post they had two recent incidents involving counterfeit U.S. $100 bills. They asked that people be cautious when accepting cash in large bills.  They suggest getting familiar with security features of U.S. Currency currently in circulation.

They ask that you report any suspected use of counterfeit currency to police and record as many details as possible regarding who attempted to use the currency.

The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office reported on Facebook they also had a similar incident recently.
