Demmer Memorial Library To Begin Renovation Soon

Demmer Memorial Library

Another Northwoods library is in the process of renovation. Construction at the Demmer Memorial Library in Three Lakes beginning this spring.

Library Director Erica Brewster says they have a firm ready to take on the project...

"....we have received low bids for our project. We've received a low bid awarded to Green Fire Management, LLC and we're working on a contract beginning April 1...."

Brewster says they aren't closing for the entire period of construction. She says they will be closed the week of March 19, as they move the library downtown to the former "Choo-Choo" store...

"....you can come in and check out books there You can place a hold on books and we will have those books ready and waiting for you. We'll have a small browsing section, but we'll also have all of our DVD's, our audio books, public Wi-Fi, and our public access computers will be down there. Newspapers, magazines, infant seating and our children's books...'"

There also will be a book return. Brewster says the remainder of the collection will be going down to the Three Lakes school. She says if there's a book you want, they can get it from the school or order through the library system. They also are seeking community members to store up to 100 books as part of a 'foster book' campaign. You can keep those books and safely store them for the next year, then return them when the renovation is complete. Story Hour is moving to the 1-2-3-Dance studio downtown on March 6.
