Expera Specialty Solutions To Be Sold To Finnish Firm

Expera Specialty Solutions

A major Rhinelander employer will be sold to a Scandanavian firm.

Expera Specialty Solutions announced the sale to Ahlstrom-Munksjo of Helsinki, Finland.

The statement said the firms had signed a definitive agreement to purchase all shares of Expera. Expera has mills in Rhinelander, Kaukauna and DePere. Ahlstrom-Munksjo produces fiber-based materials.

Expera's CEO Russ Wanke said since the formation of Expera in 2013 from the former Thilmany Papers and Wausau Paper they have been committed to core strategic imperatives related to their people and customers.

Experra employs about 1,800 in Wisconsin and is a specialty paper products manufacturer for industrial and technical paper, food packaging and and pressure-sensitive release liner sectors. The transaction is expected to take place this year.
