A fire north of Wausau Sunday destroyed a home, but a woman inside got out.
In a Facebook Post, the Marathon County Sheriff's Office says a 911 call came in around 12:45 Sunday afternoon, reporting the fire in the 4000 block of County Highway U in the Village of Maine.
People passing by saw the fire, called 911, and helped the woman inside by guiding her to safety.
The fire engulfed the home shortly before Sheriff's Deputies reached the scene. County Highway U had to be closed for a time while the fire was being fought. No one was hurt.
Several agencies helped with the firefighting effort.
This fire is currently under investigation and no cause for the fire has been determined at this time.
