Guild's Administrative Leave Extended For Two Weeks

Daniel Guild

A marathon 2 hour 45 minute closed session Thursday afternoon resulted in the Rhinelander Common Council extending administrative leave for City Administrator Daniel Guild.

A meeting Monday ended early when a livestream of the proceedings ended, denying public access.

City Hall has been closed in reaction to the Covid-19 outbreak.  Public access has been made through livestreaming. The council decided to reconvene Thursday afternoon to finish the agenda, which included a closed session discuss of the status of Guild and other topics.

When council members reconvened at 3:45 p.m., David Holt made a motion to extend Guild's leave through April 13 which was seconded by Steve Sauer and approved with only Lee Emmer voting no. The council is set to meet again in April 13.

Guild has been on leave after an arrest in March following a months-long investigation by the Oneida County Sheriff's Department and other agencies. They were investigating alleged changes in documents. Guild has been charged in Oneida County Court with misconduct in public office.
