Holiday Gas Prices Holding Steady But Might Go Up

Gas prices are holding for the 4th of July according to a spokesperson for the gas watchdog website gas gasbuddy.com.

Senior Petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan outlines the state prices...

"...Across Wisconsin, most gas stations are starting to increase prices slightly, depending on where you are. If your heading south to Kenosha, prices are a little bit lower, heading west to Minnesota prices are more expensive. In most cases, we're encountering prices from $2.65-$2.80 a gallon..."

DeHaan says crude oil prices have been inching up and that has resulted in prices to rise a bit as well...

"...Iran attacked two oil tankers then shot down a U.S. drone. That pushed oil prices up about $8 dollars a barrel which is why gas prices are starting to go up. Even amidst the rising prices, they're still about ten cents lower than they were last year. All in all, not too bad. A strong economy, low unemployment, pushing many Americans to hit the road for the holiday..."

DeHaan says for the next couple of week, gas prices should rise a bit...

"..Really, a lot of question marks remain for the second half of the summer....potential upward pressure on oil. Upward pressure on oil includes a possible trade deal between the U.S. and China, that could push oil prices up if there's a deal. But also the escalations between the U.S. and Iran, certainly something to watch for that could put pressure on oil...."

In the Northwoods, the average price is between $2.70 and $2.80 a gallon.
