Most parts of Wisconsin continue to show a rebound in home sales and prices. That assessment from the Wisconsin Association of Realtors monthly report.
Sales in the 18-county northern region for November saw the median price up 6 percent from one year ago to $132,000 with the volume of sales up 10 percent to more than 6,500 units sold. Realtor's economist David Clark thinks this year will likely be the best sales year in a decade...
"....we'll probably sell statewide a little more than 75,000 homes. Last time we surpassed that level was 2005...."
The median price in Oneida county was $161,000, in Vilas it's $183,000. Forest and Langlade counties have median prices in the mid-'80's, while Lincoln county's value dropped 4 thousand dollars to an even $100,000.
Clark says the Northwoods tends to have more volatility in prices because of the number of second-home properties for sale...
"...even those more volatile regions like the northern part of the state where you have a lot of primary homes but also secondary homes so that introduces a little bit of volatility into those markets...."
Statewide, 75,000 homes have been sold this year, the largest one year trend since 2005. In the Northwoods, the average median price is $132,000 up six percent from a year ago. Sales are up about 10 percent from one year ago. The statewide average price is $156,000.
