Lots Of Folks Voting Early Say County Clerks

en.wikipedia.org

The number of voters coming to clerks offices to cast absentee ballots continues to be brisk.

The period to vote absentee began October 20 and clerks from around the state report many people are opting to vote before election day.

Oneida County Clerk Mary Bartelt says the town clerks have been busy with early customers...

"....from my municipal clerks here in Oneida county they've been extremely busy. I keep getting phone calls as well as my deputies, people walking in on a daily basis. It isn't anything to have 8-10 people during the day to ask(for a ballot) plus five to six phone calls...."

Bartelt says she's been in contact with other county clerks who also indicate there have been lots of absentee voters in those counties, too.

Regular Wisconsin voters may also request that a ballot be sent to them by sending an e-mail or fax to their municipal clerk. This request must be made no later than 5:00 p.m.on October 30 in order for an absentee ballot to be sent to you. In-house absentee voting is open until October 31.

Bartelt says some voters head to the town halls to vote to sometimes find them closed. She says check for the open hours conducted by the clerk to get your in-house absentee ballot completed.
