Man Dies While Kayaking In The Town Of Woodruff

A man died while kayaking the Wisconsin River in the town of Woodruff. 

The Woodruff Police Department says they responded to a 911 call around 1:21 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.  The caller said they were with a male kayaker floating in the water and hardly breathing.  The call came from the Wisconsin River near County Highway E, just east of County Highway D.

CPR was started on the man before emergency services got to the scene.  He was taken to the nearest boat landing, and additional lifesaving efforts were made.

The 48-year-old Arkansas man was pronounced dead at 2:14 p.m.  His name is not being released yet.

Woodruff Police got assistance from Lake Tomahawk Fire and Rescue, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Oneida County EMS and the Oneida County Medical Examiners office.
