Minocqua Chamber to Add Space

Minocqua’s Chamber of Commerce is planning an expansion.

The project calls for building a new room about 900 square feet in size, which can be used for meetings and event preparation.

As Board President Buck Drossart explains, the growing scale of chamber events and membership has been putting a strain on existing space.

“We were outgrowing the available space that we had. And we felt it was time to expand, and offer a much larger more conducive space to our staff, board of directors, and our membership.”

The project has been in the works for the past year and a half, and is expected to cost less than $175,000.

The room will be attached to the south side of the existing chamber building.

The new construction will also allow two existing staff members who share a 100 square foot office…to separate into their own spaces.

Drossart says he sees the expansion as planning for the future.

“A lot of it is related to growth and the direction we’re going right now. We’re not going to slow down – we’re going to get bigger, we’re going to get better. And when you do something like that, obviously you need the space to be able to do it as well.”

Drossart says crews hope to break ground in October, with construction set to finish in February.
