National Public Health Week Looks At State Of Our Health

www.public-domain-image.com

We are in the middle of National Public Health Week, an initiative to recognize health departments across the country for their efforts to improve the safety and well-being of their communities.

Marta Koelling is the Assistant Director of the Oneida County Health Department and she says the department is educating citizens on their initives through posts on their social media throughout the week.

"Every day we've got a new post scheduled to highlight some of the things that Public Health is about, talking about some of the things that Public Health has contributed, who works in Public Health, what can you do to help improve your health, what can you do to get involved"

Koelling says they can't do it alone...

"The health of the community is really on everyone's shoulders. It's your own health, but your own health contributes to the health of the community as well..."

From STD awareness and prevention to tips on egg safety during Easter celebrations, health departments regularly post ideas and concepts around the general health of their communities. National Public Health Week continues through Sunday the 10th.
