en.wikipedia.org

A two-year contract has been approved between the city of Rhinelander and the Oneida County Humane Society  continuing  the Society's  operational leadership of the adoption center.

The city council Monday night approved a revised contract which gives the Humane Society all operations of the Animal Shelter beginning January 1, 2015, including staffing and operating costs.

A number of other  changes were approved by the council, including the city picking up any amount of maintenance and repair over $1,000 to a maximum of $11,000 per year.

Council member Tom Gleason says because the city will no longer operate the van used, they agreed to up the city's contribution to the facility...

"....and(the city) advance $50,000 toward to the Society for operational expenses of the facility. You will see that is up $4,000 with the fact that we are no longer providing a van, insuring the van and fueling the van...."

The contract is for two years. The shelter takes in animals from all of Oneida county.  Oneida county chips in $35,000 toward operational expenses.

The Oneida County Humane Society Adoption Center is located on North Stevens Street in Rhinelander.
