Nicolet College Foundation Establishes Emergency Fund For Students

Nicolet Area Technical College

Rhinelander--The Nicolet College Foundation has created an emergency fund to respond to the growing needs of Nicolet students caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Executive Director Heather Schallock says they're asking prospective donors and alumni to make a gift to the student emergency assistance fund. They also have a short application for students to apply for emergency assistance....

"Our goal is to help the students outside the classroom with their most urgent need in an emergency like this. and help them successfully complete this semester..."

Schallock says the money is designed to help with food insecurity, essential expenses after job loss, vehicle repairs, and unexpected financial emergencies. Schallock says the more money donated, the more they can help students...

"The Foundation board is made up of so many dedicated volunteers who are struggling in the same ways everybody is, working from home or they're in a field where they can't(work from home) and they have to go to work to help take care of others or serve others. Yet they're finding the time to help this process and be able to help our students..."

The emergency assistance is up to $400. Schallock says the best way for donors to contribute is online. She says go to the Nicolet College website and find the college's COVID-19 page and click on "Learn More" and then scroll down where you can make a donation.
