A new Facebook page aims to connect people looking to volunteer in the Northwoods with people needing help during the COVID-19 outbreak.
It’s called Northwoods Help During Coronavirus.
Local businesswoman Kim Swisher set up the group on Tuesday.
She’s hoping it will be a place to match people interested in lending a hand with those who need it.
“This is really a resource to bring folks that want to help together with folks that are looking for help,” Swisher said. “We’re not setting up any kind of fundraising, but really, it’s more about, ‘Hey, I can help deliver groceries. I can drop food off at peoples’ houses. I can help the food pantries deliver or maybe volunteer some time there, but I don’t know where my help is needed.’”
Swisher, who helps coordinate the Red Kettle drives in the area each winter, also has posted contact information for local Salvation Army offices.
“The Salvation Army is set up to provide emergency care. It’s crisis assistance with housing, with medical, with transportation needs,” Swisher said.
