A second person from Oneida County has died because of COVID-19, according to the Oneida County Health Department.
It reported its first death on September 4.
The latest death was of a person in their 70s. The health department said the person had underlying health conditions.
To date, 260 people in Oneida County have tested positive for COVID-19. More than 86,000 people in the state of Wisconsin have tested positive. 1,197 Wisconsinites have died.
The health department said health officials across the state have seen a surge in cases in the last several weeks. Testing and contact tracing efforts have been ramped up locally and statewide.
