Oneida County Schools Offer Public Flu Vaccine Clinics

Oneida County school districts are hosting a series of flu vaccine clinics open to the community…and free for kids.

As Oneida County Public Health Nurse Rob Deede explains, flu shots are recommended for adults and kids alike.

“If anyone wants to reduce the chances of getting the flu, getting vaccinated is the best way to do that. Especially folks that are at higher risk of getting the flu, such as children six months to 18 years old, pregnant women, those folks 50 years or older, someone with a medical condition, or someone who’s living in a nursing home.”

Children 18 and under can get vaccinated for free at the school clinics, while adults must pay a fee.

The trivalent vaccine protects against three flu strains, and costs 25 dollars, while the quadrivalent protects against four strains and costs 37 dollars.

The first clinic is next week, September 9th at Rhinelander High School from 4 to 6 pm.

There will be another clinic at Three Lakes High School September 23rd, and one at MHLT (Minocqua Hazelhurst Lake Tomahawk) on October 2nd

Rhinelander High School will host another public clinic October 23rd

All clinics are from 4 to 6 pm.
