Oneida Pier Dispute Simmers Over To Town Level

Goodfreephotos.com

MINOCQUA – A dispute between a Minocqua landowner and Oneida County over a large private pier has spilled over to Minocqua Town Board, which may slap parking restrictions on the adjacent town road and town boat launch site.

William E. Campbell had a 12-slip pier built on the thoroughfare body of water between Lake Minocqua and Tomahawk Lake just off the Thoroughfare Road bridge. County zoning officials are contesting the legality of that pier. It’s also raising concerns that users of the private pier will create a dangerous situation by parking on the road shoulders and that they will also hog spaces in the public boat launch.

Town chairman Mark Hartzheim wants to restrict the boat launch use to just those putting in boats, and not as convenient parking for the private pier people. Both measures are awaiting review by the town board before coming back to the board.
