If you are looking for a distraction while at home, you can live stream the activities as peregrine falcon families nest at state utility towers.
Peregrine falcons are again nesting at WE Energies and Wisconsin Public Service's high towers. The birds in the wild are cliff dwellers who need high nesting places. They seem to be able to nest successfully at the utility towers.
Wisconsin Public Service spokesperson Matt Cullen says the birds returned to start a family...
"Since that time, a couple of those eggs have arrived in those nest boxes. One at the Valley Power Plant at Milwaukee. Two eggs have been laid at the Port Washington generating station. That facility is operated by WE Energies..."
Cullen says Wisconsin Public Service has been active in the program since the 1990's. The birds were listed as endangered in the 1970's but since have been taken off that list. Since the program began, 402 peregrine falcons have been hatched in the nest boxes at the utilities. Since 1996, 121 have been hatched at WPS facilities.
Cullen says students, parents, or those who enjoy this type of thing can go online and check out the birds day-to-day lives, including new hatchings....
