Pet Store Expands In Rhinelander

WAOW Television

Northwoods pets is the only store of its kind in Northern Wisconsin. As a pet store, it's an essential business and now it's expanding.

The store opened in 2019, after Petco owned "Doctors Foster and Smith" closed. "The pets need to eat just like everybody else needs to eat," said Northwoods Pets owner Jennifer Marshal.

She said families were driving over an hour to get food for their pets before her store opened. Within a few months, she realized the need was greater than she thought.

Marshal and her 10 employees celebrated the grand opening of a new location on Saturday.

Now, the store offers fresh-water fish and reptiles to families in the Northwoods. Previously, customers would've had to drive to Wausau to get those pets.
