Phelps Maple Syrup Festival Saturday At Phelps School

It's going to be a sweet weekend in Phelps. The 6th annual Phelps Maple Syrup Festival is Saturday at the Phelps School.

Centered around the sweet treat from the Northwoods, Chamber of Commerce Director Celeste Hendrickson says it centers not only on maple syrup....

"....maple syrup and for this year we are featuring honey as well. You can take a tour of a local sugar bush and see how maple sugar is made. You can take a Maple Syrup 101 class to learn a few more details if your interested in starting a sugar bush yourself. You can take a beekeeping 101 class to learn what that involves. We have a cooking class involving maple syrup and honey, Maple Cafe, maple taffy on the snow is a big hit. Yes, maple syrup and honey...."

It's begins at 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with the sugar bush tours leaving at 9:30 and 1:00 p.m. Hendrickson says there are things for the whole family to see. More information is on the Phelps Chamber of Commerce website.
