Pine Lake Fire Difficult To Reach

Pine Lake Fire Department Facebook

Fire crews needed to reach a difficult spot to put out a bog fire in the Oneida County Town of Pine Lake.

The Pine Lake Fire Department said in a Facebook post that the call came in at 10:20 p.m. Saturday.  Fire crews headed to the blaze near a creek on Pine Lake road.

The fire was difficult to get to.  The department used its small boat along with kayaks from the homeowner who reported the fire.  Once they reached the fire several portable pumps were used along with over 600 feet of forestry hose.

Crews were on the scene over four hours.  They got called back Sunday morning for a tree that was still smoldering.  They walked the area again on Sunday to check for any hotspots.

The Pelican and Newbold Fire Departments and Oneida County ambulance also responded to Saturday’s call.
