Public Hearing Set For Solberg Condo Project

Oneida County has set a July 1 date for a public hearing on TrygveSolberg’s proposal to build 24 condominium units on the shore of Lake Minocqua, just north of the Island of Minocqua.

Minocqua supervisors voted 3-1 Tuesday after a joint session with the plan committee to recommend that the county issue a conditional use permit (CUP) for the project.

The Town Board came away sufficiently satisfied with the updated and improved appearance of the 80 by 100 foot metal storage building. Supervisors had earlier balked at its plain look. But they are pleased at the proposed appearance of the two 12-unit condominium buildings.

Jim Rein, Jr. of Wilderness Surveying brought an artist sketch that showed a band of cultured stone encircling the bottom of the metal storage building, now two-toned in color. The developer’s representative is guiding the project though town and county review.

Supervisors still worry that the storage building will stick out like a sore thumb.

Bob Rynders, who is constructing the condos, says he will plant 20-foot evergreens to shield the building from Hwy. 51 motorists.

In addition to 13 prior conditions, the town board signed off on a pier configuration and a storm water management plan. The county’s Planning and Zoning Committee can approve, deny or impose conditions on the CUP.
