The master plan for the Willow Flowage in western Oneida county is 15 years old and the DNR is updating the plan and looking for input from the public.

Willow Flowage property manager Tom Shockley says a public comment period is open until June 18. On June 4 there will be a public meeting at the Nokomis town hall from 3-6 p.m.

The on-going review process looks at the adequacy of the current plan and recommendations...

".we have completed the assessment portion of the Master Plan review. We want the public to take  a look at what the plan addresses in terms of the recreation opportunities that are available on the Willow Flowage, motorized access, the type of forestry work that goes on out there, and a whole host of items..."

He hopes stakeholders of all types, including local governments, provide input on the plan.

The flowage covers 27,000 acres above and below the water, with more than 6,400 acres of water with access to 117 islands.More information is available on the DNR website by typing Willow Flowage into the search box.
