Rhinelander H.S. Graduation Tentatively Set For July 31

Pikrepo.com

School District of Rhinelander offficials have announced a change in plans for high school graduation, but the new plans might also have to be altered.

Graduation ceremonies set for May 31 will not be held. High School Principal Shane Dornfeld outlines what they're planning...

"We have proposed to have the traditional ceremony at Mike Webster stadium on Friday night, July 31 at 7:00 p.m. if regulations at that time allow us to hold such a ceremony...."

Dornfeld says they will hold a required student practice at the RHS gymnasium on July 31st at 9:00 am. He says if students are not at the practice they will not be allowed to walk in the ceremony.

He says parents and seniors can still plan for a traditional graduation, but it all depends on the COVID-19 outbreak...

"Even if we can have it, no one knows the social distancing guidelines or amount of people to be gathered in one place can be at that time, so those are the unknowns..."

Dornfeld says if students purchased caps and gowns for the ceremony, they may come to the front of the high school May 5th or 6th from 12:00 - 2:00 pm either day to pick them up curbside. Every family will also be receiving a Class of 2020 yard sign to put in their yard to celebrate their students' accomplishments.
