Rhinelander Partners In Education Wins DPI Award

School District of Rhinelander

Rhinelander's Partners In Education(PIE) has been chosen as one of five "Friends of Eduction" by the State Department of Public Instruction.

President Ben Meyer says PIE works to strengthen ties between local businesses and the School District of Rhinelander.

He says they picked up the award in Madison...

"....Five organizations are awarded across the state each year as Friends of Education They're mostly non-profits that work in the community, just like Rhinelander Partners in Education does. We were grateful and honored to be awarded on Thursday in Madison at the capitol during the State of Education speech...."

Meyer says PIE provides real-world learning experiences for local students...

"...The organization looks to build bridges between kids in the classroom in Rhinelander and the business community. Getting them thinking about their futures, getting them thinking about their careers. Getting them thinking about what education they might need in the future. We want to expose them to the real world and get them prepared with 21st Century skills that they can use once they graduate from Rhinelander schools...."

PIE is a non-profit and came into being in 2009. They host events like Careers on Wheels and Mad Money, and also provide guest speakers and job shadow opportunities. Groups from Milwaukee, Green Bay, Wausau and a statewide organization also received awards.
