Rhinelander Prepares for Big Shopping "Dae"

Downtown Rhinelander is gearing up for an annual one-day street fair.  RedikulusDae is designed to bring people out to shop downtown.  Executive Director for Downtown Rhinelander Inc. Maggie Steffen says it’s been a tradition for 55 years.

“I can tell you – some of us that have grown up here, it was a big deal to go downtown on that day and see your family and friends. It was a way to meet up with people that you haven’t seen in a while. It’s just a fun atmosphere – it’s not necessarily just shopping, it’s more of almost an experience.”

Steffen says many vendors will be offering special deals.  She says Brown Street will be closed to vehicle traffic and the event will also feature live music and a bounce house.

“What we’re doing is we’re showcasing what we have. We’re showcasing the businesses we have, we’re showcasing our actual street with the beautiful flower baskets; you know, we’re just showcasing downtown Rhinelander and keeping that feeling.”

Steffan says it’s a big day for the merchants and vendors.  She expects thousands of people to come out for the Redikulus Dae.
