Science On Tap Tomorrow Looks At Upcoming Wildlife Research

Science on Tap Minocqua

Each month at the Minocqua Brewing Company is the next presentation of the "Science on Tap" series.  The series provides a forum where the public engages experts in an informal, two-way conversation about important issues of the day.

Tomorrow evening(11/6/19) a DNR expert will talk about "From Beaver to Bear: Wisconsin DNR’s Wildlife Research Program in the Northwoods". David MacFarland is the Wildlife Research Team Leader for the Division of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks. In this role since 2017, he supervises and coordinates the DNR’s wildlife research program.

He says there are some key projects going on..

. "...We have work on bear and ducks and bobcats and beaver. We have citizen-science research going on, ways the public can get involved. There's a lot of exciting things happening. I'll be providing an overview of all the projects we have going on. Then I'll talk a little bit about the role of research going on at the DNR. How do we use research to inform management decision and what role does it play?.."

MacFarland says he will be talking about a number of citizen-science programs. Science on Tap is held the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Minocqua Brewing Company in Minocqua.

Programs are also live-streamed at the Minocqua Public Library each month.

More information is at the Science on Tap Minocqua website.
