Another cancellation due to the coronavirus.

The National Weather Service Storm Spotter Class scheduled for March 17 in Rhinelander is cancelled due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus.

Oneida County Emergency Management reports the National Weather Service will offer online alternative arrangements for their storm spotter classes this season. Officials say CDC guidance continues to suggest that social distancing can be effective at limiting the overall spread of the virus and that was cited as a reason to cancel to protect attendees.

Emergency Management officials say the National Weather Service will provide a pre-recorded presentation and links to the Skywarn Web Training Material at https://www.weather.gov/grb/skywarn. The training material will serve as a supplement and could help keep track of individuals that have taken the training. Attendees are asked to visit the National Weather Service-Green Bay Office webpage to learn more.
