A unique cross-country ski event is set for this weekend in Iron county.

A unique cross-country ski event is set for this weekend in Iron county. The Turtle River Pursuit is set for the MECCA Trails in Mercer Saturday and Sunday.
Organizer Mike Shouldice explains why a pursuit race unique...
"The start time for the racers on Sunday is determined by their Saturday finish time. So if you beat me by three minutes on Saturday. You get a three minute head start on Sunday and I pursue you. If I can catch up to you and pass you, I know that I beat you and then I'm pursuing the next skiier in front of you..."
The pursuit race returned last year after a several year absence.
Racers from around the region are expected. There's a 11K classic leg on Saturday, with an 11K Freestyle leg on Sunday. Also on Saturday is the Claire D' Loon 5k Classic Tour.
