43 United Ways in Wisconsin are beginning their fall fundraising push, and the Northwoods United Way has set an ambitious goal.

Executive Director Nancy Sattler says the money raised in the Northwoods stays here to help local people...

"....we focus on things like education, income and health. As we always say, 'we always win collectively when one person succeeds in school, or when a family is financially stable and when people are in good health...."

Sattler says they have set an ambitious goal...

"...this year we've set a goal for $160,000 to raise which we think is a very attainable goal. But we're going to work very hard to increase that amount and raise even more than that. Currently we have 26 agencies within Vilas, Oneida and Forest counties that receive some kind of allocation money...."

Sattler says local companies are gearing up their campaigns with several holding fundraising events over the next several weeks.

The co-chairs for this year's efforts are Rouleen Gartner, Amy Vanney and Julie Berndt. Contact Northwoods United Way for more information.
