Northland Pines Schools in Eagle River are among several area school districts providing free meals to students during the mandated closure because of coronavirus.

At Northland Pines, District Administrator Scott Foster says they've undertaken an ambitious program to keep students fed....

"...is currently providing a breakfast and lunch, at the same time, at six locations across our community. Any parent can come and get the bag with both items in it from 10:30 to 12:30 at any of our six locations..."

Foster says the Extended Closure Meal Program began Thursday, and will run until school resumes. The meals are free, including one breakfast and one lunch per child. The meals are available to any student in the district, including parochial school students up to age 18. Foster details where the meals are distributed.. .

"The Northland Pines Middle and high school, St. Germain Elementary, Land O' Lakes Elementary, the Eagle River Dome parking lot, Sayner Library Parking lot, and the Conover Free Church as you come into Conover..."

Foster says district parents should check emails for a link to register or call your child's school. Non-Northland Pines students are asked to call 715-479-6471 to register.

Among other schools, Lakeland Union High School has begun a meal program where parents stay in the vehicle and have the food brought to them.

Rhinelander,  Three Lakes and Tomahawk Schools are among several districts also offering meals during the mandated off time.
