Wisconsin Arts and Economic Development

artswisconsin.org

Artists from all over Wisconsin will gather in March to remind legislators that Wisconsin has a thriving arts community.

Arts Day 2014 is set for March 12 at the new central library in Madison.

Anne Katz is Executive Director of Arts Wisconsin. She says it's the only big arts conference in Wisconsin.....

?

"....we have people coming from around the state to meet with their legislators. That's the main part of the day. The point is for the people to come to the capitol and tell their stories...

She says the theme of the day is 'Creativity For All of Wisconsin' and she says that is where the action is with Wisconsin arts in 2014..She says they're working to make sure the state invests in that creativity....

?

"....so we've been working on legislation for creative economic development which means we want to have a little bit of investment from the state which will go a long way to have economic development through the arts, arts and creativity and education, which is part of (the Department of) Workforce Development and strengthening the infrastructure of the arts....."

?

Among the event sponsors is The Mill Paper and Book Art Center in Rhinelander.

More information is on the Arts Wisconsin website.
