One of the first things a visitor to the Solution Center in Land O’Lakes notices is the clocks.

Clocks of different styles line the walls.

Some of them work. Some of them don’t. It doesn’t really matter.

“It’s kind of just a key reminder why we’re here, is to give people their time back,” said Marsha McVicker, walking through the building.

McVicker is the founder and owner of Errand Solutions, which produces an app and concierge service called Luv Your Life.

Fire destroyed the main building at Borderline RV Park in Land O Lakes. 

The Vilas County Sheriff’s Department got a 911 call at 7:27 p.m. Sunday, reporting that the building was burning.  No one was in it at the time.  Fire crews rushed to the scene 6078 Highway 45 and found fire coming from the roof of the building.  Initial investigation found that lightning struck a tree next to the building, which caused the fire.    

Fire departments from Land O Lakes, Conover, Phelps and Watersmeet responded to the scene, as did WE Energy and the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department.

Bicycle enthusiasts will have a chance to traverse portions of two states as part of the "Ride With Leinie" fundraiser coming up this Saturday.

Mark Gostisha owns the Forest Lake Country Store on county Highway "B"  and coordinates the event for the Wilderness Lake Trails in the Land O' Lakes area. He says the event began to help expand bicycle trails...

"....the "Ride With Leine" started out as a fundraiser, a brainchild when the bicycle trail was expanding from seven miles to a 38 mile loop around the Sylvania Wilderness Area..."

Bike Trail Connects Watersmeet and Land O' Lakes

Cyclists can now travel easily between Land o Lakes, Wisconsin and Watersmeet, Michigan. 

The Agonikak Trail cuts through the Ottawa National Forest. 

The 12-mile stretch was originally built for snowmobiles but had been neglected over time. It’s now been upgraded to a compacted gravel surface

Alan Piel, Michigan Director of Wilderness Lakes Trails, says the trail’s location made it an appealing choice for restoration. 

Land O' Lakes Art Show Spotlights Youth Work

March is national Youth Art Month.  Land O' Lakes Area Artisans, or LOLA, is putting the spotlight on young artists’ work with a gallery exhibit. 

The show features almost ninety works from local elementary and homeschooled students. 

LOLA Programming Director Wendy Powalisz says she’s busy framing the art pieces…which are loosely inspired by the four seasons. 

Northwoods Dance Hopes for Global Impact

A community dance in Land-o-Lakes is hoping to have an impact on the other side of the planet.  Organizers Steve and Rita Kickert had the idea to raise money for an AIDS clinic in Swaziland. But they weren’t sure how to go about it.  Rita says her husband Steve decided to try something he already knew how to do: calling square dances.

A Northwoods woman recently won a national contest to come up with the next great potato chip. Karen Weber-Mendham of Land O’Lakes won a million dollars in the "Do Us a Flavor" contest put on since by Lay’s Potato Chips. She created a Cheesy Garlic Bread chip that was one of three finalists chosen from around three-point-eight million entries. . Actress Eva Longoria presented the prize during a recent ceremony..

Karen says she was surprised to be picked. Her children had suggested the flavor, she entered and then found out she was a finalist...
