The Rhinelander Community Foundation recently awarded a $ 2,000 grant to the Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing, the lead organization for the Frederick Place homeless shelter.

Community Foundation Coordinator Sue Makris says the money came in part from an anonymous donor...

"....we were fortunate to have a donor come forward wanting to contribute money for NATH for the operation of Frederick Place. The Board of Directors for the Community Foundation chose to match it out of some early granting that their doing...."

Makris says the Foundation is helping local organizations succeed through a competitive grant process. The grants are designed to impact Rhinelander in a positive way....

"..dependent on the organization to help us determine what kind of impact it will be and how it will affect the community. The Foundation will also be giving grants to non-profits, for those who choose to apply, to receive grants. Helping those organizations meet their mission...."

Makris says grants to the other non-profits will be announced soon.
