A top award for the Edward U. Demmer Memorial Library in Three Lakes. Demmer as among 261 libraries on the 2019 Library Journal Index of Public Library Service’s “America’s Star Library” list, representing the top 4 percent of libraries in the United States. There are 6,000 libraries in the nation.
The national industry publication awarded Demmer for service in the areas of items checked out, visits to the library, attendance at programs, public computer use, and wi-fi use.
Library Director Erica Brewster says it is an exclusive group..
"Star Library status came to us as a surprise, but it mean we're on the right track with what we are doing to provide service to the town of Three Lakes. We are glad that what people appreciate here is also something that is noted in the larger library world..."
She says this top listing shows what they're working towards in the community..

Erica Brewster says this ranking was based on 2017 results, prior to the library moving to temporary quarters as remodeling was happening at the main library building.
