An Iron County, Wisconsin man faces attempted homicide and several other charges after confronting a deputy.

The Iron County Sheriff’s office says on Sunday, Todd Grossklaus called dispatch saying a woman at his residence was intoxicated and needed to be removed.

When a deputy arrived, a woman told the deputy Grossklaus was extremely drunk and getting his gun ready.

The deputy saw the barrel of a shotgun coming around a corner near the door.

The deputy was able to grab the barrell, but Grossklaus reportedly did not respond to commands to drop the shotgun.

Grossklaus was then able to pull a loaded pistol out of his waistband.

The deputy pinned Grossklaus’s right hand with the pistol to a doorframe, but Grossklaus reportedly kept trying to get the weapon turned toward the deputy.

The deputy was able to get a call out for help on his radio.

Grossklaus eventually responded to commands to give up the handgun.

A Hurley officer arrived, and Grossklaus was taken into custody.

The woman told police she had been hit by Grossklaus.

Bond for Grossklaus was set at 20-thousand dollars cash at a court appearance earlier this week.

On-line court records show the bond has been posted.
