School Calendar Changes Approved For Rhinelander Schools

Rhinelander School District

Changes by the state concerning mandatory numbers of days will enable the Rhinelander School District to make up some time lost due to inclement weather.

Superintendent Kelli Jacobi explains how the days will be made up....

?

"....there are two early release days coming up. One is on March 25 and one is on May 20. Those early release days have been canceled. They will now be full school days for students...."

Jacobi says the state dropped the mandatory 180 day requirement, instead using an hours of instruction requirement. She says they don't have to make up as many days as they lost as they had some extra days built into the calendar. Jacobi says dropping the early release days helps parents who need to make adjustments for their kids when they are released early and it also helps transporation, as both will keep a normal schedule on those days.

Jacobi says unless there's more bad weather, school is scheduled to be out June 3 for students and the next day for staff.
