Wisconsin Army National Guard

The Wisconsin Army National Guard celebrated the first woman — as well as first Native American — to serve as Wisconsin’s deputy adjutant general for Army during a formal change of authority ceremony last week at Volk Field. Major General Mark Anderson relinquished the post to Brigadier General Joane Mathews, who most recently served as the assistant adjutant general for readiness and training. Mathews was born in Lac du Flambeau.
