Aspirus Wausau Hospital (AWH) was recognized by IBM Watson Health in its annual 100 Top Hospitals study.

The study identifies the top-performing hospitals in the country based on overall organizational performance.

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is located in Wausau and serves communities from the Keweenau Peninsula in the U.P. to Wisconsin Rapids.

Hospital President Darrell Lentz says the designation is given to the top-performing hospitals...

"....this is an acknowledgement and designation formerly of Truven Health Analytics, now IBM Watson Health, that we've received six times in our history and our fifth straight year being designated as a Top 100, given their analytic review...."

Among the findings were survival rates were 26 percent better than at peer hospitals, there were fewer patient complications and infections, length of stay was shorter, wait times in emergency were shorter and average inpatient costs were lower. Lentz says he was proud of the consistency Aspirus Wausau Hospital was providing. The study used publicaly available data.
