Wisconsin DHS reports highest single day total of new COVID-19 cases in 2021

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is reporting its highest single day total of new COVID-19 cases in 2021 Tuesday.

There’s been another 4,264 new COVID cases. It brings the 7-day average of new cases to 3,148.

That surpasses the peak earlier this fall in September.

It’s still below the peak of COVID-19 cases the state experienced last winter.

Last November, the state was averaging nearly 6,500 cases a day.

Hospitals in the North Central region are still dealing with a high number of hospitalizations, especially in the ICUs.

Health officials urge people to get vaccinated or get their boosters if they haven’t, wear masks in crowded public places, and stay home if you’re sick.
