Vilas Vision Seeking New Leadership Candidates

A program to develop the next generation of leaders in Vilas County is looking for candidates.

Since its start in 2003, Vilas Vision has graduated more than 130 candidates. The Vilas Vision program is a cooperative arrangement between Vilas county UW-Extension and the Lac du Flambeau band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

UW-Extension agent Chris Stark says the program outlines what it means to be a leader in your community…

“…and that’s really the strength of our program. It introduces the leaders of the future to Vilas County and the programs going on here and of course each class that we have happens in a different community in Vilas County so that they can learn or visit a different part of the county while learning about a different program issue.”

Stark says the program is made up of eight classes and meets the first Wednesday of each month from November to June. He says participants will learn about local economic development efforts, the arts culture in Vilas county, local natural resources and cultural diversity.
