Vilas County Board of Supervisors Adopts County 2021 Budget

With no public comments the Vilas County Board of Supervisors adopted their 2021 budget showing total expenditures of $37,923,593 and a tax levy of $17,441,243 with a tax rate of $2.36 per $1,000 of value, down slightly from this year’s rate of $2.47 per $1,000 of value.

The board also approved 2021 short term funding of $2,600,000 compared to $3,145,521 for 2020.

The term is for 30 days from Peoples Bank at an interest rate of 1.4% which will be paid in a single payment of $2,606,619. The major portion of the short term borrowing is for road and bridge construction at $1.4 million and $330,000 for emergency response vehicles.

The total expenditure for 2021 of almost $38 million is down from this years total expenditures of $42.5 million. The 2021 tax levy is also down slightly. There will be a general fund deficit of $493,543 caused by increasing property tax allocation to the Dept. of Social Services.
