The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office found an Odanah man first reported missing on March 26.
Kevin Rosin, 32, was found dead in the White River by a search team Tuesday afternoon.
Early on March 26, a call came into 911 dispatch of single car rollover in the town of Gingles, just south of Ashland.
Sheriff’s deputies responded. They couldn’t find anyone around the crash site nor at the local hospital.
Police believe Rosin had been driving the car. His phone was found with the car. The Sheriff’s Office says initial reports indicate that alcohol could have been a factor in the accident and that Rosin may have been disoriented after the crash.
Family members reported that Rosin had not returned home later in the morning of the 26th nor had he made any known contact with others.
The Sheriff’s Office started ground searches that day.
Dozens of agencies and volunteers came in over the next five days to help look for Rosin.
The Sheriff’s Office said after extensive ground search and shore-to-shore searches of the river itself, Rosin was ultimately located by a search team in the White River downstream of the crash.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and hope that the outpouring of support from our community carries on as they grieve this tragic loss,” said the Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook post announcing the end of the search.
Investigative work continues by the Ashland County Coroner’s Office and the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office.
