An Eagle River man has been charged with receiving and possessing child pornography.

The charges were brought against him after an investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, with help from the Vilas and Oneida County Sheriff’s Offices.

According to court documents, Ryan Shelton, 29, received a livestream video of a child engaging in sexual conduct in February.

Then, by May, he had several pictures of children engaging in sexually explicit conduct, including one of a child less than 12 years old.

Shelton was arrested this morning and appeared in a court in Madison this afternoon.

If found guilty, he could face up to 40 years in federal prison.
