Masks are now required in all Merrill city facilities for the next four weeks.

Mayor Derek Woellner announced the change Tuesday.

He cited the sharp increase in COVID-19 cases Lincoln County has seen recently.

The County Health Department says it’s seen a steady increase in positive cases in the last month.

34% of tests came back positive last week. 10 people with ages ranging from 30 to 90 were hospitalized, only one was vaccinated.

Three more people have died, none were vaccinated.

The mayor says face coverings will be required in all city facilities until September 28th in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.
