Republicans Win Big In Midterm Elections

Republicans won major victories in statewide contests on Election Day.  

Unofficial election night totals indicate Republican Governor Scott Walker will serve another term, as will Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch.  Meanwhile incumbent Democrat Secretary of State Doug La Follette will stay on in the position.

Republican Brad Schimel will be the state’s Attorney General, beating Democrat Susan Happ. 

Republican Matt Adamcyk will be Treasurer.

In the 7th U.S. Congressional District, incumbent Republican Sean Duffy beat Democratic challenger Kelly Westlund.

In the northern part of the state, there was at least one Democratic win.  In the 74th Assembly District Democrat Beth Meyers of Bayfield beat Republican Jamey Francis of Hurley. 

Meanwhile a statewide referendum to protect the transportation fund passed by a large margin, with about 80 percent of voters statewide choosing yes on the question.
